Mandi Lynn
Mandi is the down to earth, cheeky, multi-award winning founder and photographer for A La Mode Photography Boutique. She is an American by birth and a Kiwi by choice.
The first year she was in business, she won an award at the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography (NZIPP) awards and was a finalist for the Wellington Photographer of the Year. The following year she won three awards at the National Print Judging for her three favourite images. This year she doubled that and won six awards and received her associateship with the NZIPP.
Her work has been described as rich, evocative, and emotive. Her primary goal in all of her work is to create images that you feel.
To learn more about Mandi feel free to
- Listen to the interview on National Public Radio
- Read a lovely article written by Sarah Hardie on Mandi's serpentine path from her commission as a US Navy Nurse Corps officer to running a studio, cafe, farm, and new parent classes on her 26 Acre Farm in the Akatarawa Valley of New Zealand.
- Enjoy the horrible photo (Sorry Andrew, but she going to slug you for sneaking this in next time she sees you) but very cool article (thank you Julie) about her work with new families inthe Dominion Post.
- Read The New Zealand Life and Leisure article about her farm and relationship with her bestfriends Nima and LacPhutti Sherpa and how they have together helped to create the paradise of the Blueberry Farm.
Debs is the glue that holds the place together. Without her Mandi's hands would be completely tied with all of the administration of running everything that she wouldn't have the time to create the beautiful art that she does. Debs answers the phones, manages the schedule, shows off the images and basically deals with any thing paper like that isn't a photographic print. She is the Goddess of all things Administrative and she is just plain fun to work with. She was the person that pushed Mandi into becoming a wedding photographer in the first place. Mandi was focusing on portraits but Debs had liked Mandi's artistic style so much that she begged her to do her wedding...Mandi actually gave her the number of several other photographers but Debs persisted and Mandi agreed to do the shoot...the rest is history.
